About the event

MAKE Roanoke is pleased to announce another class in our series of FREE short classes we're calling Maker Minis! This one is an Intro to Metrology class.


This class, taught by Chris Santacroce, will teach you the fundamentals of precise measurements. This class is recommended for people ages 12 and up. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.


In this hands-on mini class you will learn:

  • Terminology of Accurate and Precise Measurement

  • Usage of Scales, Tapes, and Calipers

  • Conversion between different Units of Measurement

Knowing these skills will be required for the more advanced Metrology 2 Maker Mini coming in June


Please note that MAKE Roanoke is an active workshop:

  • All participants must have a signed waiver on file. If the participant is a minor, the waiver must be signed by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian. Waivers can be filled out ahead of time here.

  • Children who are not participating in the event are not permitted in the space.

  • Closed toed shoes are required in the space at all times by everyone, regardless of age or participation in an event. No sandals, crocs, or bare feet.

  • You may be asked to remove or tuck in dangling jewelry, lanyards, etc for safety.

  • Depending on the activity, other dress code rules may apply.
